PolyCross XPEAT61

Generic Family: Polyethylene, CrosslinkedSupplied by: Polyexcel
XLPE FOR MEDIUM VOLTAGE

This is a modified polyethylene compound with Vinylsilane, wet cross-linking, recommended for the coating of overhead compact network of power distribution cables, voltages of 13.8 kV to 34.5 kV. It is supplied in the form of a mono-component.

XPEAT61 may be used as coating of cables with Aluminum or Copper conductors, although its use in cables with aluminum conductors is more common for weight reduction purposes. It is suppled in the natural color. For the gray cable, we recommend the color concentrate of general use MBPECZ2/10 (up to 1%) and for the black cable, we recommend the color concentrate of general use MBPEPR5/50 (up to 0.5%).

The XPEAT61 compound contains:
  • Superior resistance to thermal oxidation;
  • Stabilization to UV light (2000h in WOM as per standard ASTM G155);
  • Resistance to electrical tracking (2.75KV:1000 min as per standard NBR 10296);
  • Metallic ion neutralizers;

CROSS-LINKING
Highly reactive resin / catalyst system, allowing for a quick cross-linking in sauna with saturated vapor (90°C) or heated water (up to 80°C).
As a reference, in steam room or heated water, a cable with coating thickness of 3.0mm may sub-link up to 12h. A thickness of 6.0mm may cross-link up to 48h. In ambient curing (25°C / 55% of relative humidity), coverage thickness of 3mm, cross-link in up to 25 days; with thickness of 6.0mm, cross-linking completed up to 45 days.
