ErcrosBio ® LD 600 is a PLA (polylactic acid)-based thermoplastic obtained from renewable natural materials. The content of material of biological origin is over 99%. It is suitable for the production of food packaging in accordance with the criteria of Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 1 . It is compostable in accordance with the criteria of standard EN 13432 1 . CHARACTERISTICS: ErcrosBio ® LD 600 is a highly transparent material obtained through D-isomer polymerisation of lactic acid. The L-isomer content is less than 1%. RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS: ErcrosBio ® LD 600 is a material designed to be used as an additive in combination with ErcrosBio LL grades at a proportion of 1%-5% to improve the crystallisation speed and decrease injection cycle times. In applications requiring a greater flexibility and elongation at break of the material, amounts exceeding 5% of ErcrosBio ® LD 600 will have to be added.

CHARACTERISTICS: ErcrosBio ® LL 550 has a high level of fluidity that is suitable for the injection of thin-walled parts, which require good processability, high level of transparency and short injection cycle times. The material is designed to obtain parts by injection that do not require high impact properties and that require a high level of rigidity. The crystallisation speed increases with high mould temperatures (90°C to 110°C). RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS: ErcrosBio ® LL 550 is recommended for injection moulding of thin-walled parts with high mechanical resistance. It can also be used for the injection of small parts, protection cases, supports, small containers, etc.

CHARACTERISTICS: ErcrosBio ® LL 650 is a material designed for the production of sheets using extrusion-casting, injection and injection-blowing. It is a material that can be used in a wide range of processes, although it is especially suitable for injection-blowing of thick-walled parts. Given its impact properties, it is also ideal for injection-blowing processes for the manufacturing of hollow objects. The crystallisation speed increases with high mould temperatures (90°C to 110°C). RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS: ErcrosBio ® LL 650 is recommended for injection-blow moulding of all types of bottles and containers, such as solid food jars. ErcrosBio ® LL 650 is also recommended for thermoformed parts with low stretch ratio and with moderate mechanical requirements.

CHARACTERISTICS: ErcrosBio ® LL 700 is an ideal material for producing sheets and films, and subsequent thermoforming in cast-extrusion lines. Given its low flow index and high melting strength, it can be used to obtain a wide range of thicknesses in cast-extrusion processes. RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS: ErcrosBio ® LL 700 is recommended for producing sheets and thermoformed products, as well as films of medium to low thicknesses (up to 50 micra) obtained through cast-extrusion processes. It can also be used for producing printed films and filaments for 3D printers (1,75-3 mm).

CHARACTERISTICS: ErcrosBio ® LL 705 is an ideal material for producing films and filaments for 3D printing. 3D printing results have excellent characteristics: good layer-to-layer cohesion, no distortions or warping, precise details and with very little smell. Given its low flow index, it can also be used to obtain films in a wide range of thicknesses. RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS: ErcrosBio ® LL 705 is recommended for producing films of medium to low thicknesses (under 150 micra). It can also be used for producing filament for 3D printers (1,75-2,85 mm).

It is suitable for the (transparent) injection-blowing process.

It is used for thick-walled, small surface-area parts, such as horticultural applications (fruit/vegetable boxes), disposable household items, small containers, storage boxes, office materials, containers and vessels for food packaging. It is suitable for the (opaque) injection-blowing process.

It provides excellent processability, as well as good mechanical properties and low post-moulding contraction. It has good barrier properties, especially to water vapour. It has high-speed crystallisation, which increases with high mould temperatures (90°C to 110°C). RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS: ErcrosBio ® LM 63106 is recommended for injection moulding of parts as a substitute for heterophasic PP, such as disposable household items, containers and medium-walled or medium thickness trays, lids for containers, bottle caps, toys, brushes, plastic razors, toiletry boxes; as well as all types of medium-sized containers that may be subject to impact and repeated bending. It is suitable for injection-blowing processes.

CHARACTERISTICS: ErcrosBio ® LM 72304 is a material intended for obtaining sheets by extrusion and subsequent thermoforming when transparency is required. It provides excellent processability in both extrusion and thermoforming. RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS: ErcrosBio ® 72304 is prepared to be processed in flat-head extruders for the production of thick sheets (> 400 µm). The material is designed for extrusion lines equipped with casting pumps to generate pressure in the head. The thermoformed pieces can be cut without causing breakages or splintering. Recommended applications, in which it can substitute PET or PS, include trays, vessels, containers, CD cases, self-sealing food containers (clam-shell), blister-type packaging attached to carton, ridged containers, disposable packaging and sales displays.
