Udel® P-1700 LCD Asia Pacific
Udel® P-1700 LCD polysulfone is especially well suited for the fabrication of porous membranes for filtration applications. The membranes are usually in the form of hollow fibers, but tube, plate or spiral wound forms are also used. The membranes are used in a variety of applications, such as potable water treatment, waste water treatment, blood processing, pharmaceutical purification, gas separation, dairy product processing and for processing a variety of food products. This resin offers the membrane producer good solubility in commercially available dipolar aprotic solvents, such as dimethylacetamide (DMAC), dimethylformamide, (DMF) and N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP), which are completely miscible in water, very good control of pore size and pore size distribution, high membrane strength and good film-forming properties. Typical grades of polysulfone contain a cyclic dimer that can precipitate from solution, plugging the process filters and limiting the life of the dope solutions. Udel® P-1700 NT LCD is specially manufactured to have a lower amount of cyclic dimer. It also has a higher number average molecular weight (Mn) for a given weight average molecular weight (Mw) leading to higher fiber strength, which means fewer fiber breakages, fewer surface defects and fewer rejects. The resultant membranes have excellent hydrolytic stability and are compatible with pHs ranging from 2 to 13. They tolerate a variety of cleaning methods, including hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide. The resin has a Tg of 185°C indicating high thermal resistance. - Transparent: Udel P-1700 NT LCD

Udel® P-3500 LCD MB Asia Pacific
Udel® polysulfone is a tough, rigid, high-strength thermoplastic with outstanding hydrolytic resistance. Udel® P-3500 LCD MB series polymers are particularly well suited for the fabrication of porous hollow fiber and flat sheet membranes using a solvent-based process. These high molecular weight polymers are used in a variety of membrane filtration applications, such as renal dialysis, water treatment, bio-processing, food and beverage processing, and industrial gas separation. Udel® polysulfone polymers possess a number of attributes that are valued by the membrane industry, including excellent mechanical properties, stability at pH levels from 2-13, excellent resistance to caustic and good resistance to moderate concentrations of chlorine. They feature low levels of extractible and insoluble materials making them suitable for drinking water and food contact uses. They may be sterilized using steam, ethylene oxide and e-beam radiation. Udel® P-3500 LCD MB series polymers are available in various narrow molecular weight range grades, as shown below. Each grade features reduced levels of cyclic dimer compared to the previous grade, P-3500 NT 11. This can be important in solution processing applications such as membrane production, as it leads to improved dope solution stability and reduced equipment fouling. The Udel® P-3500 LCD MB series polymers are soluble in commercially available, water-miscible, dipolar, aprotic solvents, such as dimethylacetamide (DMAC), dimethylformamide (DMF), and N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP). Udel® P-3500 NT LCD Asia Pacific
Udel® P-3500 NT LCD is a very high molecular weight grade of polysulfone, and therefore offers the greatest toughness and chemical resistance of the available grades. It is well-suited for extrusion. Polysulfone is a tough, rigid and transparent high-strength thermoplastic that is suitable for long-term use up to 300°F (149°C). It is resistant to oxidation and hydrolysis and withstands prolonged exposure to high temperatures and repeated sterilization. Polysulfone is resistant to mineral acids, alkali, salt solutions, detergents and hydrocarbon oils. Contact with polar solvents such as ketones, chlorinated hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons should be avoided, as these types of chemical compounds can cause stress cracking or solvate polysulfone resin. Polysulfone is highly resistant to degradation by gamma or electron beam radiation but can be adversely affected by long term exposure to ultraviolet. Electrical properties of the polymer are very stable over a wide range of temperatures and after immersion in water or exposure to high humidity. The resin is very safe for food contact uses. It complies with FDA 21 CFR 177, 1655 and may be used in articles intended for repeated use in contact with foods. Additionally, it is approved by the NSF, by the Department of Agriculture for contact with meat and poultry and the 3-A Sanitary Standards of the Dairy Association.
